The joys of The Internet! Why stand in line when there are so many deals online? I brought a dress online Thursday night (I have been looking for a cocktail dress for a while). I would have never showed up at a store to buy it though.

No way, Jose. Well, there aren’t any sales overseas where we live, anyway, so that won’t lead to any temptation for big spending at the moment. But even if we were back in the US, the only thing Black Friday offers me is iron-clad insurance of a migraine. Forget it. I prefer to shop all year and enjoy the holidays!

Black Friday this year could be the excuse to put black crepe over all the mirrors. What if you give a party and nobody comes? What if all the bad news and the layoffs and the RIFs really DO mean folks are going to be serious this Christmas and give what matters rather than what impresses?

Black Friday shopping? Nah, I’ll be out hiking in the woods enjoying the gold leaves–for free. G.

No! Just NO to the whole thing. :shudder: Maybe it comes from having to deal with Miami malls from growing up, but I avoid the mall. I avoid it ESPECIALLY on Black Friday.

I don’t generally shop retail at all. I’m more of a garage sale, E-Bay and Craigslist kind of girl. I also dislike people…I mean *crowds*, so I avoid Black Friday shopping like the plague. Not my idea of a good time.

well, I too live in Canada, so it isn’t really Black Friday here. And I a not a very good consumer… But I will go to the shops this Friday – my sister will be in town (she lives up North and has asked that we do something Christmas-like and she also mentioned wanting to shop) so we will likely go out on Friday evening – first to the University Women’s fund raiser at a local mansion – “Christmas at Hycroft”, then to stroll the streets of a shopping district – I will look at all the lights and baubles, and my sister can shop, and maybe we can have a little something to eat too… but I don’t think I will be venturing in to a mall our electronics store…

I will be going shopping on friday. I am from Canada and this is becoming a tradition for a lot of people I know. We drive down on thursday, stay in a hotel, get as many deals as possible, and have a get away at the same time.

We have to stay at least 48 hours to avoid paying duty and we can only bring back $400 per person. Last year I went over this amount and had to pay about $40 in duty and taxes. But I got all my shopping done in the 2 days. Then I get to spend more time doing family stuff, baking, etc.

This year I plan on staying within my $400 budget and anything else I need to get I will buy at home.
