A gadget for holding open yard waste bags which I somehow never think to use. (very cheap but annoys me anyway)

Books – things I “should” read. This is not happening anymore because I switched my buying habit to using the library.

Stuff to help organize – when I really should be purging.

1. A guest bed. After getting a house with a spare room, and living 2 hours from our parents and most of our friends, we figured people would actually come and visit us… not so much I keep debating taking the brand-new mattress for myself, and putting mine down in the guest room for the off chance we actually do get a visitor, but I’m just too lazy to bother with the stairs.

2. A coffee maker. I don’t drink coffee, never have, but Wayfare insisted we needed one in case we had guests who wanted some. Living 2 blocks from a Tim Horton’s, we’ve found whenever our guests want coffee, they just stop there on the way. So the coffee maker has never even been out of the box.

3. I’m sure you’re seeing a trend by now… chargers and cheese knives and “serving” casserole dishes and veggie dip trays and a turntable of some sort (in case you can’t reach the cheese on the other side of the small 10″ thing?). They’re all up on the top shelf where Wayfare can’t even see, let alone reach, still in their boxes, so I’m thinking of just leaving them behind when we move again.

Unlike the last reader i took milliseconds to ‘think’ on this one:

1. I-pod. Oh and to compound the matter we have a second non-apple MP3 player.

2. Suit. When another wedding our funeral arrives it is usually out of date or doesn’t fit.

3. Kids toys. My wife took almost brand new toys and sold them for peanuts in a summer garage sale. We still have too many.

i have to add one more.

4. Video camera: spend more time looking for it and charging than actually using.

Others come to mind, but this is not the forum for that. Honourable mention goes to my calloway golf clubs (i promise to use someday) and my ‘too cheap to pass up’ grinder from ‘crappy tire’

I like this squawkkback! Had to think of this one for a while. Here’s my list:

1. Bought an car polisher for my car. The weather didn’t turn out well, and now that its fall, its in storage waiting to be used next summer.

2. A board game that my girlfriend and I played for 1 day and never played again.

3. Dumbbells that sit on my floor waiting to be used. Exercise equipment is notorious for sitting around not being used.

1. Dozens of VHS tape cases (now donated)
2. Dozens DVD cases (may be useful someday)
3. A home safe … I’m afraid we’ll put stuff in and forget the combination

1. Magazine subscriptions – I keep thinking I’m going to want to read them, but they mostly just sit around taking up space – can’t recycle them because I haven’t read them “yet”
2. planners and planner refills
3. clothes that don’t fit or aren’t flattering. some sort of madness overcomes me in dressing rooms…

1) A pair of spendy cycling sunglasses that looked really cool online and ridiculous on my face.
2) Fins for swimming.
3) A (far too) brightly colored dress shirt by a famed designer, just because it was on sale.
But I learn from my errors! I don’t buy sunglasses online anymore unless I have the insurance of having tried them on already. I don’t waste money on things I “might like to try.” I don’t get something solely because it was really expensive and is now on sale. This leads me to save money more now than I used to (while I still screw up from time to time, of course.)

1. 4-inch red sparkly peep-toe Bandolinos. I have never worn them, and I never will. They were on sale for $25 at DSW, and I’d just been dumped so…

2. Rain boots. They are hard to walk in and heavy–and my snow boots are just as waterproof, but easier to walk in. I wear the snow boots even in the summer and leave the galoshes in the closet.

3. Any item of clothing I bought and gave to Goodwill with the tag still on it. I don’t do that so often now, but man, it hurts to remember.
