I just thought of something else--if moving to a new town, you might want to request a packet from their chamber of commerce or their visitors' center.

@EnRock! So happy this list finds you one week 'till your move. Having a staging/packing/stacking area sounds very organized. Especially since you are marking boxes as you go. When I moved in with my "better half" I did the packing and organizing. His idea of moving is a mess...

I was relentless with decluttering. The less to move, the better. :D

Couldn't have been more timely, except that we only have a week left! At least we can make sure we've thought of everything.

We're taking the de-cluttering tip seriously as we are moving far away to a much smaller home. One thing that is working will for us (after we gave up on lists) is to make one room the packing/stacking room. Here we have a bunch of miscellaneous unpacked items, our packing material, and piles of boxes marked for different locations; some to be stored, some to be moved, and many to be given to various charities, family, and friends. This keeps stuff organized, makes packing easier, and keeps the rest of our house in a sane state.
