Babies, Gardens, and Carnivals Oh My!
- June 1, 2008 by Fox | Comments: 9
This week has flown by without any strange incidents involving bears, deer, or power outages. Amazing! To celebrate a normal weekend my “better half” and I planted a garden of tomatoes, beans, basil, and sunflowers. I’m hopeful all veggies and flowers survive the feasting eyes of our diverse wildlife here on the ranch.
My Australian Cattle Dog (named Tivo) watched us with mild interest as we dug, tilled, and planted our little vegetable garden. She seemed content to watch us work while she lazed and basked in the sunshine sniffing little field flowers. It’s a dog’s life, I just live in it.

One of my bestest friends went and had a baby this week. I’d love to send new mommy Beth the warmest congratulations for her 7-pound beautiful baby boy. I think her (and her husband’s life) just went whoosh.
Awesome Articles:
- Single Ma over at Fabulous Financials strongly believes Birds of a Feather Don’t Have to Flock together. Single Ma argues the merits of surrounding yourself with people more successful than yourself. I love this woman.
- Banker Girl writes honestly in When the Breadwinner Wears a Skirt where she ponders what it means to earn more income than her future husband. Banker Girl poignantly points out the challenges of being the head of her household.

Your Two Cents:
Thank you for sharing PF Buzz with your readers. I really appreciate it. On a different note, I guess you never get bored watch TiVO play…lame, I know.
Dude, your dog is adorable! And I’m glad you linked to Heidi’s post; that one took serious guts to publish.
Thanks for linking back to the carnival. Good luck with the garden.
@Pinyo You are right! I am NEVER bored of watching my Tivo. Her ears can pick up any channel!
@Sara Heidi (Banker Girl) is seriously awesome. Indeed, publishing that post took some guts…I would even say it took some balls.
@PT So far the garden is still intact. It may take a day or two before the wildlife discover my delectable plants flowering. Hopefully they never discover my garden.
I think zombie movies prepare a new breed of survivalist! Whenever I see one, I always analyze what I would do in that situation – how I would get gas, do I actually own anything that would constitute a weapon – and so on.
Hmm. Now I’m craving a little “Dawn of the Dead” and “The Day After Tomorrow”.
Thanks for the link!
My fiance once told my dad that he “has balls that clank.” I guess the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
@persistentillusion You crack me up girl. Zombie movies? I have some bear spray, that’s a weapon right?
@Heidi I can hear your balls clank from here…and I live in the middle of a forest. Clank…
Good luck on the veggie garden. I planted some this weekend but the slugs have already eaten one of my plants. I hope yours do really well, you will have to put some photos on the blog of your first harvest!
