Need a Financial Tool or Calculator?

Over the last two weeks I’ve programmed a few financial tools and calculators to hopefully help you with investing decisions. I currently have a Portfolio MER Calculator and a Loan Amortization Calculator.

I would like to build more tools and would love your help in deciding which to create next! I’ve started this candidate list of possible tools:

  • Rent Vs. Own
  • When Can I Retire?
  • Mortgage Amortization
  • Mutual Fund Fee Impact
  • Compound Interest
  • Your ideas welcome!

If there’s a tool not on this list (or one you’d love to have next) please leave me a comment describing what I should build! Looking forward to your ideas!

Your two cents:

How about a debt calculator to figure out when will I be out of debt? A tool to calculate my different sources of debt, the various interest rates, and payments on each debt source?

Check out the app ‘Debt Quencher’ for os x. It does precisely this. A web app would be nice, tho.

Brian: Debt management is indeed important. Thanks for chiming in!

Jens: Thanks for the tip! I’ll take a look at this app on my Mac tonight. 🙂

we need a calculator to “stop giving the government an interest free loan. ” .. How much less tax should we get the government to not take from us by filling out that form

Frugal Chinese: I could indeed create a tool to calculate how much money you save by not overpaying taxes throughout the year by using form T1213 (explained in article: Stop Giving the Government an Interest Free Loan).

I think this is an excellent idea. Thank you!
